Former was best
in that we were not only able to eat stomachs fill,
but we were able to save too!!!
Now we earn a sum of 20K+, we have no idea
where it goes, let alone saving it!!
Which was better, the former or the latter???
6 subjects per sem, 6 different teachers!
One project since we joined
and just one manager!!
Which was better, the former or the latter???
We used to make notes;
we used to study for ranks!!
Now we scan thru our mails;
we struggle for our ratings!!!
Which was better, the former or the latter???
We have still not forgotten the people
in the next section!!!
Now we don't even know who sits
in the next cubicle!!!
Which was better, the former or the latter???
After getting back from a tiring play,
we used to do our home work!!
Now who knows/cares about home;
all we do is just work!!!
Which was better, the former or the latter???
We knew our history and economics!!
Now let alone reading books,
we don't even catch up with the daily news!!!
Which was better, the former or the latter???
We had an aim in life;
behind our backs we had our teachers!!
Now we have no idea about the
future nor do we find any
one who would tell us anything!!!
Now just ask yourself,
which was better,
the former or the latter????

INTERNET CHAT BETWEEN MANMOHAN AND OBAMA
The PM’s PC monitor lights up with the message “President Barack Obama (BO) would like to invite the Indian PM, Manmohan Singh (MMSji), for a chat”. Here is the complete conversation as it took place:
BO: So, how was your day MMSji?
MMS: As we are almost a working day ahead of you, you’ll know it when you start yours eight hours from now.
BO: MMSji, you are a professor, please put it simply. Eight hours is a lot of time inside the WH.
MMS: Experience has taught me that things that go without saying, sometimes go away when you say them.
BO: I’ll put this down in a file for some future oratory. I am already getting the jitters. How did you manage a second term, when you speak so less?
MMS: Take this one down too: “Rhetoric is the grunt you let out with your first serve. Political matches are won by how well you can volley on the return.”
BO: Getting you. I have been mostly in basketball. We normally win on three pointers in the last five minutes of play.
MMS: You’re doing well as I assess you, but in political games, you make a strategy that forces your opponents to foul. Even a steady flow of single points is enough! You don’t improve your game. You spoil the opponent’s ... something to the effect of what the legendary American Gen. Patton said about winning the war.
BO: Sure. Tell me how you manage good economics and good politics together?
MMS: Elementary, Barack. We managed a negative inflation rate before the Budget session, though it was because of low buying power. We jacked up gas and diesel prices, but spared LPG and kerosene, the common man’s fuel. We admit there will be inflation, but a manageable one. Beyond that is policy that is confidential. We go step by step. We have promised the nation the first 100 days’ performance. We’ll the next turn when we reach the crossing.
BO: How did you manage to avoid “Health” as a major agenda, in a land of a billion people, 70% managing from their pockets, and no credible public or private insurance?
MMS: Take me, for instance, I have had health problems, but all is fine and settled. Fortune favors the bold, they say. The Mumbai disaster turned people’s mind on internal security. We are now spending on NSG hubs. The purpose is the same, to save lives. You should be happy. We’ll be doing quite a bit of shopping from your markets.
BO: I am amazed that Indian judiciary is so liberal that in a day Section 377 was modified. Arnie could not take a step further in a liberalized California that houses Hollywood. Besides, your HIV figures are also pretty much on the brink.
MMS: In India certain sects are bound by strict laws to wear proper underwear, not the ones with a limited guarantee for the elastic. The ones you tie with a proper knot. Many others have adopted the wisdom of the habit. I also secretly speculated that this new deviation shall put some sort of brake to the burgeoning population.
BO: And how do you take care of the Budget deficit? Ours is unmanageable, with loss of jobs and a cash-strapped Fed govt. being forced to release financial stimuli, stress tests, and buy up companies, some sort of retro correction towards socialism. “Free Market Economy” is shattered. Nothing is “free”, show me the “market”, and where the hell is the “economy!”
MMS: A 3,000-year civilization, which has survived, has its subtle ways of uncovering its manholes for prolonged rainy days. We have already announced selling off key public enterprises, and we’ll sell till we break even. The other is selling the 3G bandwidth.
BO: How sure are you the 3G selloff will get you the desired target?
MMS: That is our culture, and it never fails. You can achieve any status or position of profit or power if you know how to say G!G!G! ( actually written as “ji”, just the way you are addressing me as MMSji!). There is never a dearth of those who have mastered the art. In fact it was a long list and we had to politely hold back quite a few of them, telling them we shall give them a chance to say the word when we again run out of money. In India you never insult a man who instinctively says “Ji” to you. I must clarify though that this is the part of a set-up, and not my or any particular individual’s diktat.
BO: Fabulous. But you are also distinctively lucky to have two women behind this successful man, not to say that you are short of merit, but it makes a difference. Like two locomotives required to push a train up a hill.
MMS: Barack, you hit the nail on my turban. No wonder, the word “Bam”, the word that gives you your tribal name, “Obama” in Swahili, further derived from Arabic, means the bent or the “distorted” one. Not to say that I am entirely a saint, my name, ‘Manmohan’, means the one who appeals to everyone’s heart! The wife is a boss, and a boss is a boss all right. I acknowledge my good stars. But you are on the same track. Besides Michelle, you also have the lady behind Clinton’s success - Hillary. Imagine what would be your plight without them. See you at the Sept. UN Meet.
BO: OK, bye, but what was it that you said first to me in Urdu, and do you have another such word while ending this interaction. I need it for my speeches as I have to pacify West Asia, and the Middle East.
MMS: I’ll teach you more when we meet. Actually as a finance Minister, I nurtured a flair of starting my Budget speech with an Urdu couplet. Naturally the suitable ones were the tragic ones, something like, if Keats, was to write, “An Ode to the Economy”, but in those days love was more seductive than money. Yes, when I first met you, I said, “Mubarak”, that spells close to your name, and means “congratulations”. Now that you want me to use another phrase, I’d say, “Barakat Ho”, again close to the spelling of your name, and implies that your agendas be prosperous. I’ll have to leave you now, we have an urgent Cabinet meeting and Soniaji is presiding!
seems like obama picking up a few points on politics from manmohan...

RODDICK GOES DOWN FIGHTING
ROGER Federer battled hard and held his nerve to win his 6th wimbledon title and go past sampra's tally 14 grand slams against andy roddick in front of a celebrity crowd which had pete sampras, bjon borg, sachin tendulkar, sir alex ferguson, michael ballack, russel crowe...
It was more similar to last year's final at wimbledon and this one was a notch better than that...as the opponent in roddick was too hot for federer that the man himself found it hard to get the points...the first set clearly belonged to roddick as his serve and ground strokes were both powerful and unreturnable..the second set was a close one as it went into a tie breaker...roddick was leading 6-2 when federer took 6 consecutive points to take the set 8-6...it was more of roddick losing it than federer winning it...the third set also went to a tie breaker but this time federer had it easily and was up by two sets..when everyone thought federer would run away with the title roddick fought back by winning the fourth set ,playing some magical tennis...it was now down to the final set and it was in favour of roddick as federer did not break roddick's serve until then..every time he had breakpoints roddick served two bombs to claim the game...there was no break pf serve and as there is no tie break in the final set both players kept holding to their serves waiting for a single mistake from the other...roddick had the disadvantage of serving second as he was under pressure to hold serve to stay in the match...but he served beautifully....the clock went past four hours and it was hard to choose a winner...finally in the 30th game of the final set a liitle bit of tiredness and bad luck spelled doom for roddick who's serve was broken with which federer won the fifth set 16-14 and with that the match ....roddick was shell shocked as he was a better player on court than federer...federer erupted in joy and roddick was in tears and disgusted...but he won the hearts of all the fans as they chanted roddick's name and clapped for a minute...it was quite a thrilling match which goes down as one of the best wimbledon finals...

A-ROD DASHES BRITAINS HOPES
The andy from USA knocked out britains dream boy andy murray in a thrilling four setter..both players matched each other stroke to stroke but it was roddick who won the crucial points which mattered the most in this game..murray had more aces then roddick, more winners than roddick and even the more number of supporters but still lost it.some of ground strokes played by both men were magical..murray was letting his emotions out by shouting and screaming with each point..whenever he was in trouble he had the backing of the huge crowd as an inspiration..on the other hand roddick was looking pretty determined and was battling not only murray but also the crowd who were completely one sided..in the end when murray made that unforced error roddick was down on his knees and the emotions were clearly visible..this is his third wimbledon final and will take on roger federer on sunday who is on the verge of surpassing sampras record 14 grand slams.

Home favourite andy murray and the big american andy roddick will face each othe in the men's singles semi final at wimbledon on friday..come friday and roddick will be the most hated person in the whole of britain as the "murraymania" has been getting bigger after each match..murray was brilliant and in top form during his straight set victory over the unseeded juan carlos ferrero...andy roddick had an epic battle with the little aussie lleyton hewitt to reach the semis by beating him five sets..its going to be one hell of a match at centre court...its going to be roddicks booming serve vs murray's ground strokes.

Pakistan started off with a first wicket 50 runs partnership.Afridi who top scored for Pakistan made 54 from 40 balls which guided for Pakistan victory. the magic of mendis and murali was missing.pakistan made a easy win with a loss of only two wickets.Afridi was awarded man of the match for his excellent show under pressure.Even though they missed the first T20 world cup , they have proved their supremacy in twenty twenty.

ASIAN SHOWDOWN AT LORDS
Pakistan and srilanka face off today in the finals of the T20 world cup at lords which promises to be a nailbiter with lots of puzzles in it...Will misbah repeat the most dreaded shot???will dilshan deliver for one last time??...these questions will be answered once theses teams get underway at lords...both teams have some "mystery" in their lineup..pakistan have always been an unpredictable side..they have the uncanny knack of delivering when unexpected..srilanka on the other hand thrives on dilshan and the three "M"..pakistan seem to be a better side as they have very good batting depth and a bunch of excellent T20 bowlers..pakistan are determined to do it for woolmer..afridi is the trump card and if he clicks then it is going to be pakistan......lets hope it will be a repeat of last years final in terms of entertainment...

CAN SOUTH AFRICA OVERCOME THE CHOKER'S TAG??
The super eights are over and we are now into the business end of the tournament..The most balanced side in the event south africa will be eager to get rid of their choker's tag..they have a long history failing to deliver in the knock out stages of an ICC event and succumb under pressure situations..graeme smith and his boys are all set to overcome this as they have the best team in the tournament which has a perfect mix of hard hitters and consolidators..but will they all perform under pressure against an unpredictable pakistan side??..lets watch out who handles pressure better on the 18th of june when the two teams meet at nottingham...

ENGLAND "BOUNCE OUT" INDIA
England tactically beat india in their match at lord's which was exposed by the west indies......It was almost like playing in india as english fans were out numbered by the indians and the englishmen were boo'ed on their home country at the mecca of cricket..after put into bat by dhoni england lost luke wright early but pieterson ensured no more damage was caused as he and bopara build the innings..ravindra jadeja bowled with maturity and kept them under check by picking up pieterson, bopara at crucial times......but ishant was poor as he leaked too many runs which meant england reached a defendable 153 in 20 overs..THE indians made a shocking start as rohit and raina were tactically bounced out by sidebottom..the middle overs were too dry that jadeja and gambhir struggled to maintain the pace...once they went yuvraj arrived and started smashing from the first ball...but a brilliant stumping by foster ,probably the biggest of his carrer ended yuvrajs knock and narrowed indias chances..dhoni and yusuf pathan played brilliantly and took it very close but they left themselves too much to do in the final over..it was heart breaking as a fan to see your team getting knocked out before the semis ,when they were the favourites to win..

SOUTH AFRICA'S ROAD TO SEMI'S
South africa made a comfortable win against the host..after winning toss ,england choose to bat ,bopara and luke wright opened the innings ,but bopara fell victim for steyn's slow ball, wickets started falling in regular intervals....spinners prove to be a headache for english batsman, who kept the run rate very low....van der merwe and parnell's tight bowling restricted england to make a total of 111...then south africa who had a chase a wobble total ,got off a good start ,it was the day for kalli's ,who hammered the ball in all the sides of the field, gibbs gave him a right partnership and they made 70 runs on the board...english bowlers couldn't restrict flow runs as kalli's was in great form.. their partnership paved way for the south africa's comfortable win....kalli's was awarded the man of the match for his splendid 57 from 49 balls...

JAYASURYA AND DILSHAN MAUL THE WINDIES
Jayasurya and Dilshan were in murderous mood yesterday in their match against the windies which was anyway a dead rubber in the context of the tournament...west indies started without gayle, who was nursing a knee injury and were led by denesh ramdin...after winning the toss he put srilanka to bat... the only success he had in the match was winning the toss...their bowlers were blasted to every part of the ground by jayasurya and dilshan who recorded the highest opening partnership in the tournament....Lendl simmons was the only bowler who kept the batsmen under check and took almost all the wickets that fell..edwards had an off day as he leaked too many runs...srilanka eventually finished at 192 for 5...
West indies had a tough ask as the required rate was 9.8 at the start...the openers made a decent start....introduction of spin slowed the scoring rate and a resulted in a few wickets...bravo and sarwan batted well but the asking rate was to high...in the end sarwan and pollard hit some lusty blows but found themselve shoprt by 15 runs...jayasurya was declared man of the match for his 81 off 47 balls..

SEHWAG OUT OF T20 WORLD CUP
Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the t20 world cup after failing to recover from his shoulder injury..but there is a speculation whether it is the injury or the rift with the captain that has ruled him out...BCCI made the announcement in a press conference.when asked to dhoni about the reason for his exclusion dhoni was reluctant to answer..earlier in the week dhoni brought the whole team to the press conference to show the teams unity..but this issue has again raised doubts on relationship between dhoni and viru...it is a big blow for team india as sehwag is a match winner any day...the replacement for him is named as Dinesh Karthik...not a good news to hear..
AUSTRALIA AND BANGLADESH SHOWN THE EXIT DOOR
Neil o'brien with the man of the match award
The second match was a do or die match for aussies....after put into bat by the lankans they got off to a horrible start as warner left early in the first over...ponting looked good until mendis came to bowl...the aussies found mendis too hot to handle and kept losing wickets...malinga also picked up wickets with his yorkers and slower ones...then some hitting from dave hussey, johnson and lee in the slog overs saw them to a fighting total of 159...srilanka opened with dilshan and jayasurya...but jayasurya left early and the pressure was on....dilshan's stroke filled fifty and sangakkara's crafty half century ensured that australia were knocked out...
A visibly dejected ponting in the dug out

PAKISTAN FACE A TRICKY SITUATION
Last years runner up pakistan are now in spot of bother as they get ready for their do or die match against the dutch..their poor show against england not only makes this one a must win match but also makes the net run rate a very crucial factor...if pakistan had to reach the super eight they have to beat the dutch by a margin of 30 odd runs..their top order is not performing to their potential and execution of plans is very poor...the captain has shown huge faith in afridi by saying that "t20 is fun game and its all about entertaining...and i hope afridi gets a hundred in the next game"...what ever said is history...can they come together and put a great show to make it to the super eights??..keep your fingers crossed....

SOUTH AFRICA TOO GOOD FOR THE SCOTS
After the opening match where england lost to minnows holland...there was a sense of expectation for more such upsets....but south africa cleared all such doubts by stamping scotland in their opening game ....south africa were put into bat and they accepted it gleefully as their batsmen made merry of the poor scott bowlers..smith and kallis opened the innings...the pair added 87 runs for the first wicket...gibbs came at three and was scratchy as it was unusual position for him to bat...de villiers who started cautipusly then smashed it to all parts scoring at a rapid pace ....with albie and duminy giving useful contributions from the other end the proteas got to 213 in their 20 overs...it was too much for scotland as they lost a flurry of wickets in the opening four overs..steyn and parnell bowled with pace and movement...then botha was tight in his line and chipped in with a few wickets...and eventually scotland were all out for 81...the south africans have made a rollicking start and are one of hte favourites to win the cup...

MUMBAI INDIANS WIN IPL-2 OPENER
The IPL-2 kicked off today at newlands,capetown..the inaugural match was played between chennaisuper kings and the mumbai indians.and mumbai won by 19 runs...While in last season's opener brendon mccullum smashed an unbeaten 153 to set up a crushing victory for his side, this time around the opener got underway with overcast conditions and sachin tendulkar played a brilliantly compiled 59 not out and batted through the 20 0vers to post a competitive total of 166 for 7..the innings was initially subdued and gained momentum as abishek nayar smacked a few out of capetown in a flintoff over and some lusty blows in the final overs saw them post a decent total..THE chennai innings started disastrously as parthiv was gone in the second ball of the innings..hayden and flintoff batted well and looked threatening during their 50 run stand..harbhajan then bowled an excellent spell choking them for runs and accounting for dangerous flintoff...this opened the gates as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals...dhoni was the only hope the chennai had with more than 30 needed in the last 3 overs..but some great swing bowling from malinga took mumbai home comfortably by 19 runs...

FREDDIE'S HAT TRICK WINS ENG THE SERIES
Andrew flintoff back from an injury has been having a tough time with the bat and the ball in the ongoing series against west indies produced a great spell of bowling to win the series for england..england managed to square the series and it was the deciding match.a large english crowd, the barmy army has arrived and rain spoilt the party and kept the players out of the field for almost a sessionn...after a long haul the match was started as a 29 over game..west indies won the toss and put england to bat...england had a mixed innings and managed to reach a decent total of 172..west indies were 140 for 6 when flintoff came to bowl the 27th over in which he took a hat trick and sealed the victory..First to go was Denesh Ramdin, who shuffled into line to a full-length inswinger, but worked the ball onto the base of his own stumps. One delivery later, and Ravi Rampaul was gone pinned on the crease by a shin-high full-toss, and then, with the England fans finding their voice he produced a superlative yorker to demolish Sulieman Benn's defences...edwards did well to dug at the yorker first ball as it might have been four from four..flintoff became the third england bowler to take a hat-trick in odi..

FASTEST WIND-POWERED VEHICLE
Hi friends ..it was Sunday morning and as usual woke up late ,i finished my activities and started reading the newspaper with a cup of coffee.while I was going through the newspaper ,I found this article, which amazed me .i thought , that I should share this information with others.
A British engineer has smashed the world land speed record for wind powered vehicle, becoming the fastest naturally powered human on the planet.Richard Jenkins clocked 126.1 mph in Greenbird, harnessing winds of just 30mph in the futuristic vehicle.
The Greenbird that resembles a stretched missile with a giant fin,set the top speed on the dry bed of lake Ivanpah on the border of California and Nevada in the u.s.The team beat the previous American-held record of 116 mph, which was set by Bob Schumacher in the iron duck almost 10 years ago to the day at the same location. The fifth Generation Greenbird, which Jenkins designed and built on his 10 year quest to beat the record ,uses a combination of technology found in aircraft and Fomula 1 cars.
“ it has been a incredibly difficult challenge” he said.” Half the challenge is technical, having to create a more efficient vehicle than the previous record holder and then the rest is luck, being in the right place ,at the right time, with the right people watching”.i think this was an interesting information and I also think there will be an another one to beat this Beast…

DHONI-ARROGANCE AT ITS BEST
it was the third odi between india and newzealand...sachin scored a brilliant 163*....and there was this spectacular moment in the match when dhoni smashes grant elliot into the stands...the beauty is that he doesn't look the ball after he hits it...he looks at the wicket untill it reaches the stands and then looks whether it has cleared the ropes...i think this was arrogtance at its best...he did it as if he wanted that delivery to be smashed for six...

The disaappointment of indian premier league not taking place in india is fading slowly as we get ready for it to kick off on the 18 th of april...being a chennai super kings and sachin supporter i could not ask for anything more as the opening match is between CSK AND mumbai indians at the wanderers in JO'BERG...DURBAN which was india's hunting ground in the t20 world cup gets to host the bulk of the matches during the tournament..it hosts 16 matches ...with both semi-final and final going to JO'BERG....its exciting to hear that atleast the tournament is going underway..looking forward for a great season of ipl-2...

GET TO KNOW THEM
As a child we grow, all of us have been wanting to know the facts about galaxy ,space and so on .and this universe is quiet riddled with galaxies.our universe is 14 billion years old. Galaxies are composed of dust, gas and countless stars and which have less than a billion stars are considered small galaxies .Each of the galaxies would have 100-200 billion stars circling within, and the age of the oldest star in the galaxy is said to be about 13.2 billion years .
In fact all galaxies including ours is going outward at a speed which is getting a little faster every year .The speed of an arm of galaxy is about 140 miles a second but perhaps in a billion more years our galaxy would be travelling about 1000 miles per second.
When you look up[ at the night sky you see stars and almost every point of light that you see is one of the 100 billion stars floating with us within the milky way galaxy. The galaxy is moving like a Frisbee disc while it is spinning .
For the solar system to complete one orbit around the galaxy takes as many as 225 to 259 million years .This is referred as the galactic year .

SIZZLING SEH"WHACK"
daniel vettori has said that he hates sehwag...not because of any personal rivalry but because the way sehwag goes about his batting..vettori's hatredness for sehwag was justified today as he went hammers and tonks on the kiwi bowlers..he just blasted his way to a 73 ball 125 and on the way he became the fastest indian to score a century..he reached the landmark in just 60 balls...he has this unique way of reaching milestone with sixes..the innings was full of arrogance and no mercy for the kiwi bowlers..the smaller grounds made it worse for new zealand...gautham gambhir too played a crucial and solid unbeaten 65 but it completely overshadowed by the nawab of najafgarh....this victory means that india win their one day series in newzealand...way to go boys...
